Is life feeling overwhelming?
Are you feeling weighed down by life’s challenges, struggling to make sense of it all, and finding it hard to see a way forward? Perhaps you're always on the go and trying to hold it together for everyone—at work, for your children, family, and friends—but feel like you are crumbling inside. You're increasingly on edge, lying awake at night wrestling with worries and self-doubt, and finding it harder each day to find the energy to get out of bed in the morning. Sometimes you just want to curl up and hide away from the world. You long to feel more connected with your loved ones, and miss the joy and laughter that seem so hard to come by lately.
If you're facing emotional struggles, you’re not alone. About one in four adults are estimated to suffer mental health problems each year, and individual therapy has been shown to be highly effective in creating lasting positive change so that people can live with greater ease.
We were never meant to walk through life suffering in silence, and you deserve to feel understood and be supported. Whether you’re facing stress now, or need a safe place to talk about past issues, we are here to help you find the most effective treatment and walk alongside you every step of the way. Working one-to-one with your therapist, you will find a compassionate, non-judgemental space where you can voice whatever is on your mind, gain clarity around who you are and what is important to you, and learn (or unlearn) whatever is standing in your way. You'll come away with tools and insights to navigate life's challenges with greater ease, along with the support you need to make meaningful changes in your life that empower you to move beyond merely surviving and start thriving.

THERAPY THAT WORKS FOR YOU
Our Diverse Therapeutic Approaches
At A New Hope Therapy Center we recognize that everybody is different and that there isn't one single model of therapy that works for everyone.
We are therefore proud to have a large team with diverse specialisms and trained in a range of therapeutic approaches including Person-Centred Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, EMDR, Narrative Therapy, somatic body-based therapies, Internal Family Systems (IFS) and more. Check out our therapist bios to find out more.
We also have therapists who are trained in offering a wide range of cutting-edge creative options—both in-person and online. From speaking about your favourite movies, music and other cultural touchstones, engaging in art-making or creative writing, or using video or role-playing games, you can integrate your interests into your healing journey. These approaches allow us to tap into stories and characters that you relate to, using their strengths and lessons as tools to empower you on your own journey.
We’re here to support you in whatever way of working feels most authentic and meaningful to you, and we can help advise you on what approaches would be best suited to you and what you are going through.
EMDR Therapy for Trauma
We are proud to offer Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) both in-person and online, an evidence-based structured therapy which has been extensively researched and proven effective to reduce the impact of traumatic memories and experiences. By using guided eye movements or tapping, EMDR helps bridge both sides of the brain to desensitize emotions, and help the brain re-process and consolidate fragments of memories in a healthier way.
EMDR helps break the "loops" of unresolved emotions, allowing you to sit with and work through the impacts of your past. Those experiences begin to lose their grip on you, empowering you to move forward and respond differently in the present.
FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
What's the standard duration and frequency of sessions? Our standard sessions are 50 minutes long and take place weekly.
Will I have to lay on a couch... or talk about my mother? There are still a lot of misinformation about therapy out there! No, you don't have to lay down on a couch, nor do you have to talk about your mother - unless you want to! Your sessions will be focused on your identified goals and in a comfortable setting designed for your comfort.
Can therapy take place online as well as face-to-face? Absolutely! We believe therapy should be accessible and convenient, and we are delighted to offer therapy from your phone, tablet or computer. Studies have shown that online therapy is equally effective as face-to-face sessions, and all our therapists are trained in telehealth-specific methods.
What can I expect during my first few sessions? Your first few sessions will be used for you and your therapist to explore what is bothering you and set clear goals for your time together. Your therapist will complete an assessment which will include background and historical information regarding what has brought you to therapy, as well as exploring how the stress is impacting your daily life. Your therapist may make recommendations based on the information you provide to them, then together, you can decide on the best path forward and begin your healing journey.
