Do you wish that you could feel less alone in your struggles?
At times, life can feel lonely and isolating, especially when you're facing struggles or a phase of life that those around you just don’t seem to understand. Even though you know your loved ones care, it can feel like they’re unable to truly “get it.” Perhaps you're a parent receiving well-meaning but misplaced advice from those who haven’t walked your path, a teen navigating the pressures of an online, inter-connected world your parents never knew, or an adult struggling with parts of your past that your friends and family don't share.
In moments like these, being part of a group where you can connect with others who’ve faced similar experiences can be incredibly grounding. It’s a chance to be truly seen, to share honestly, hear different perspectives, and feel less alone. Shared vulnerability, as well as laughter, can be deeply transformational, and we’ve seen this magic unfold in our groups time and time again.
Our groups spanning all ages and stages of life also provide supportive spaces for learning, sharing, and trying out new ideas and approaches for handling life's challenges. You can practice new skills, gain insight from others, and stay on track toward your goals.
What Group Therapy Can Help With
We run a whole range of groups at A New Hope Therapy Center for all ages to provide support around a whole range of issues and stages of life. Examples of previous groups include:
-
'Unleash Your Emotions: An Inside Out Adventure for Families', a playful group for parents and caregivers along with children in 1st - 6th grade to explore their inner world of emotions, work on collective problem-solving, and learn mindfulness techniques and build a happy, well-balanced home together.
-
'Not Your Mother's Postpartum Group', a refreshingly honest space for new parents to navigate the wild ride of parenthood without sugarcoating the bumps. Led by a therapist who gets it, new parents are provided the tools and a supportive community of like-minded individuals to rock it on their own terms.
-
'Religious Trauma Recovery Group', a group for adults 18+ seeking healing and recovery from religious trauma. Participants can explore diverse therapeutic techniques to heal and find solace in a judgement-free environment amongst others who understand and support your journey.
-
'Unleash your inner builder: Preparing for 6th Grade with Lego®' for 5th graders feeling a bit unsure about the jump to middle school. The group provides a supportive environment to build skills, meet peers and have fun so you can step into middle school with confidence!
Would you like to see one of these run again or can't see what you're looking for? Get in touch with us today to express your interest in group therapy - we would love to hear from you!
GROWING STRONGER TOGETHER
What is Group Therapy and How Does it Work?
Group therapy brings together one or more therapists with a small group of individuals, usually around five to ten people, creating a safe space for connection, growth, and shared understanding. Our sessions are available in a variety of formats, including in-person at our office, online, and in community settings. Most groups meet for an hour to 1.5 hours each week.
At New Hope Therapy Center, our group therapists bring creativity, warmth, and understanding to every session. Through engaging activities like games, playful exercises, pop culture references, and shared laughter, we help our group members build connections, share, and develop new skills together in a supportive environment.
While opening up in a group of people you don't know yet may sound intimidating, group therapy provides unique benefits that individual therapy may not. Our group members are often surprised by how rewarding the group experience of connecting to others who truly understand can be.
